Quantifiers
1. When do we use much and when many?
- much: uncountable nouns (milk, marmalade, money, time etc.) in negative sentences meaning "no mucho", and in questions meaning "cuánto?"u
- many: countable nouns (bottles of milk, jars of marmalade, dollars, minutes etc.) in negative sentences meaning "no mucho", and in questions meaning "cuánto?"
Examples:
- There isn't much rice.
- There aren't many biscuits.
- How much money have you got?
- How many dollars have you got?
2. When do we use a lot of?
It is used in singular and in plural sentences, with countable and uncountable nouns, meaning "mucho".
Examples:
- A lot of water is wasted.
- A lot of computers are needed at schools.
3. When do we use a little and when a few?
- a little: uncountable nouns (milk, marmalade, money, time etc.)
- a few: countable nouns (bottles of milk, jars of marmalade, dollars, minutes etc.)
Examples:
- He has a little money left.
- He has a few dollars left.
